Tosca is an opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini, libretto by Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica. The first performance was held in Rome, Teatro Costanzi, 14 January 1900.
The libretto comes from the Victorien Sardou's Tosca, the drama represented for the first time November 24, 1887 at the Théâtre de la Porte-Saint-Martin in Paris, whose success was mainly related to the interpretation of Sarah Bernhardt in the role of the protagonist.
